Self-Care Isn't Selfish — It's Essential!
by theMOMTRIBE Team · 02 September 2026
Moms come hardwired into believing that everyone else's needs come before their own. Taking care of the kids, making sure they get to school on time, putting dinner on the table every night — somewhere along the way, self-care starts taking a backseat. "Me time" starts feeling like a luxury, or even something to feel guilty about.
When you're used to handling responsibilities the moment you open your eyes in the morning, you may not even realise there's an invisible load on your shoulders. You just think it's part of the everyday routine.
But when you get used to decision fatigue, constant multitasking, and emotional labour, you can also be paying a heavy hidden cost. Maybe you've felt it too — the constant exhaustion that sleep can't fix, irritability and anxiety, even forgetfulness and brain fog.
This is why self-care isn't a luxury. It's not even just important. Self-care is essential to your wellbeing — and it's something that deserves to be scheduled into your routine.
Self-care doesn't have to be extravagant, Moms. It can be something as simple as reading, or doing an extra skincare step before bed. It can be having coffee with a friend, or taking a walk in nature. It can even be an extra 15 minutes of uninterrupted prayer-time.
The point of self-care isn't to spend the whole day away from responsibilities. It's to help you recharge your energy, reduce stress, and improve your overall wellbeing.
You don't have to wait until you're "exhausted" to take care of yourself. Sometimes the strongest thing you can do — for yourself and for the people who depend on you — is to pause, breathe, and remember that your wellbeing matters too.
